The Appalachian Bear Center Wins the 1998 Conservationist of the Year Award

May 15, 1998

A true testament to their accomplishments, the Appalachian Bear Center was presented with the "1998 Conservationist of the Year Award" sponsored by the Tennessee Conservation League, the National Wildlife Federation and the Saturn Corporation.

The award recognizes the ABC for outstanding contributions to the responsible use and management of Tennessee's natural resources. Conservation Award This year's award ceremony was held in mid-May at Montgomery Bell State Park, just outside of Nashville. In attendance to accept the award was Board Member Tom Faulkner and his wife Donna, along with ABC Curator, Daryl Ratajczak and his wife Sandy.

This marks the first time the Tennessee Conservation League ever presented the award to a wildlife rehabilitation facility.  Congratulations to all who have assisted us in the past, it is because of you the ABC has become a world class facility!
