Corporate Supporters
Appalachian Bear Rescue is a one of a kind 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides an urgently needed alternative for wildlife officials trying to save the lives of orphaned and injured black bear cubs. We are a 99% volunteer organization and if it weren’t for the hundreds of people who have donated their time and money, ABR would not exist.
We could not help rescue black bear cubs without the generosity of our corporate donors. Please help us thank them for their support by patronizing them whenever possible.
ABR is licensed and regulated by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency which performs annual inspections of our facilities.
ABR works closely with the The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and we deeply appreciate the generous financial support of the Park by agreeing to have ABR included on the Needs Lists from Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
We receive regular financial support from Black Bear Jamboree, which has sponsored the annual August "Run for the Bears" in each of the last four years.
The Alcoa Foundation has provided ABR with grants to upgrade our facilities and to install cameras we can use to monitor the bears and, we hope, which can be linked to the Internet when we get a broadband internet connection!
The exceptionally talented folks at The Tombras Group have donated their talents to design our new logo, the look of our new website, and developed our "Human Education Campaign" posters.
The owners and staff at Jackson Mountain Homes keep our books straight, provide cabins for us to us during the Run for the Bears, and have prevailed on their respective spouses to help us keep a roof over our head.
The attorneys at Kramer Rayson LLP have donated their legal advice about charitable deductions, real property issues, our insurance contracts and any number of other legal questions that arise from managing a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation.
If we have a specific need for an item or a project, we tell Kate Marshall Graphics and they let their viewers know and within a few weeks, our need is met!
The Great Smoky Mountains Association graciously permits us to sell a Tino print of a bear in the Sugarlands Visitor Center store.
The University of Tennessee's Wildlife Science, College of Veterinary Medicine, and Animal Psychology Departments provide our bears with with life saving surgery and permits us to regularly consult with them about bear feeding and health issues.
The World Society for the Protection of Animals have provided us with multiple printings of the Bear Safe Guide, a brochure we distribute which contains a wealth of information on what to do if you encounter a black bear.
The Village Market IGA in Townsend donates a wealth of unsaleable food.
Cherrydale Farms donates a portion of the sale of certain products to ABR.
Ted Minkevich and his crew at Big Bear Repair rebuilt our electrical system and heating system.
The following Organizations have generously allow ABR to retrieve the "fountain money" that collects in the fountains and pools on their establishments.
