Our Bears

Since Appalachian Bear Rescue helped its first bear in July of 1996, seventy-six bears have received assistance at our facility. Here are a few of our success stories:

ZERO - ABC's first cub; his success told us we were on the right track.

The Neonatals - A very tough challenge for ABC.

Cades Cove Bear - An amazing discovery you would never believe.

The 1997 Fall Season - Our most difficult challenge yet.

Our 2001 Cub, Hickory - After a slow season, a wonderful success story.

Ursula - The Bear who now lives at Black Bear Falls at the Knoxville Zoo.

Ash and Ember - The cubs who survived a forest fire.

Lucky - ABC starts off a busy year in 2003 with a special Spring arrival.

Copperfield, the Disappearing Bear.

Chester - After two hip surgeries, Chester returned home on April 4, 2005.

Mimi - ABR's Exceptional Bear
