Volunteer

Appalachian Bear Rescue is always in need of volunteers. We seek those who want to help the overall mission of ABR; to rehabilitate orphaned and injured bears for release to the wild and to educate the public about black bears and the regional threats facing them.

As a volunteer driven organization we need committed volunteers for various projects throughout the year. ABR is actively recruiting dedicated individuals who support the mission, but we must point out that volunteering does not offer access to the bears for the obvious reason that these bears must remain wild and with limited exposure to human presence. Even though access to the bears is not possible, members and volunteers can take satisfaction in that they are actively working to assure the survival of the black bear. In addition, Tennessee law does not permit us to exhibit the bears.

ABR Volunteers enjoy the following activities:

*Staff ABR booths at conservation and public events.

*Assist at special events.

*Assist in distributing materials for ABR.

*Provide administrative assistance for mailouts or telephone campaigns.

*Enjoy meeting new people and educating the public about appropriate human/bear interaction.

*Gain satisfaction from knowing that you are contributing to the welfare of the American Black Bear.

*Plus so much more!

More information and a Membership Application will be posted soon. Please check back often.
